These maps are to show the dog friendly apartment buildings in Vancouver's West End and Kitsilano areas. Still in development, obviously. The maps do not indicate vacancies, only that the building is a known dog and pet friendly building.
Please note, the building management can change their pet policy at any time. Even if they allow pets they may insist on meeting your dog, and they can deny your application as they see fit.
Click on the icons for more information. We "think" these apartments are dog friendly, but no guarantees. For information on vacancies, check on MyWestEnd.ca.
You might also want to check the Bed Bug Registry for any address downtown or in Kits. It's an ongoing problem at some buildings (and some that allow dogs).
We're also including a Craigslist feed for the West End and Kitsilano Dog Friendly apartments listed there. Alas, no geo-feed, so no map, but keep an eye on the listings to find your perfect pet-friendly apartment!

ReplyDeletehalf of these apartments don't allow pets, and those that do, charge an arm and a leg. What is with this damn city? A human can do way more damage to an apartment than a dog can..and seriously, there's a damage deposit to protect the owners. such BS. I hate this damn city. There has to be more pet friendly buildings out there, but who has the time to get the full list...ugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm really disheartened. I'm moving from Toronto to take a great new job, but honestly I have never before come across this extent of pet-unfriendliness in Ontario! I'm considering backing out on the job offer. Any success stories out there that will give me hope?
ReplyDeleteIt's not like Ontario at all... no where is. You're best bet is to try renting privately owned condos, sometimes they allow pets. Craigslist may help. There are few apt buildings that allow pets, and they seem to be getting fewer and fewer every day!

ReplyDeleteShaughnessy Lodge located at 1298 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, is pet friendly. I lived there for several years and loved it! It is a beautiful heritage building!
